He joined The Verge in 2019 after nearly two years at Techmeme.Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took a call from President Trump on Monday while onstage at the All-In Podcast’s All-In Summit. It’s not the first time Huang has taken a call from the president during work, but this time he put Trump on speakerphone before a big crowd.During the call, the president launched into his take on recent fears about AI development, which he called a “hoax,” and told the crowd that “the robots will not be taking over.”It’s already a frothy week for AI news. The call with the president followed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s long essay published this weekend titled “We Must Pace the Frontier” where he argued for slowing down AI development and coordination between governments.

The essay sparked many responses from AI executives, who generally agreed. But Trump pushed back in Truth Social posts on Monday and repurposed some of what he said in those posts at the event. Heard onstage, Trump also commented on data centers, claiming there would be communities that would be “dying” without data centers but were now “really wealthy” (though without providing specifics).Huang did not push back, saying instead that “We’re going to make sure that everybody wins in the AI race in America. Every industry, every company, every state, every people.” Huang also appealed to Trump by telling him he was speaking to “thousands” of people. You can hear all of Trump’s comments in recordings of the appearance on X:Follow topics and authors from this story to see more like this in your personalized homepage feed and to receive email updates.Jay PetersAINewsNvidiaPolicyPoliticsTechMost PopularYour car is selling your dataApple releases iOS 27 with Siri AI overhaulThe Steam Frame is made for irresponsible hardware nerds like meLG responds to TV spying allegationsWaymo pulls over, calls cops on riders with a ghost gunAdvertiser Content FromThis is the title for the native ad
