Now, Milwaukee has the chance to complete the sweep in Game 4 on Tuesday. Will the Brewers raise the trophy at Tropicana Field, or will the Rays keep their postseason alive and force a Game 5?We’ve got you covered with keys to the matchup and pregame lineups — and stay tuned for in-game action and postgame takeaways from Tampa Bay.Key links: How to win World Series | Playoff MVP tracker | Full scheduleLive updatesMilwaukee Brewers at Tampa Bay Rays (8 p.m. ET)Starting pitchers: Dustin May vs.
Griffin JaxHow the Brewers can finish it off: Don’t change a thing. The Brewers are hitting with purpose, fielding with confidence and pitching with vigor. They can smell their first World Series title. And with a bullpen game scheduled and all of Milwaukee’s leverage relief arms working on at least two days’ rest, Pat Murphy will strategically deploy his surfeit of relievers to exploit the best matchups.
Should the Brewers chase Rays starter Jax early, Tampa Bay’s bullpen hasn’t shown much ability to lock down Milwaukee’s hitters, another checkmark in Milwaukee’s favor. Everything has been good so far this series, leading the Brewers to wonder, with good reason: Why would anything change now?How the Rays can stay alive: Treat every at-bat like their season depends on it. (Because it does.) Generate swings and misses. (Which Jax is capable of doing.) Play their best players. (A day after sitting Jonathan Aranda and Liam Hicks for platoon reasons.) Get back to playing Rays baseball. (Clean, fun, focused.) More than anything, remind themselves that they won 98 games and romped through the American League bracket and that these last three games are not a reflection of who this team is. Bad stretches happen, and it’s a shame when they happen in the first three games of the World Series, and, sure, no team ever has come back from a 3-0 deficit and won. But history can only be made one out at a time, and securing 27 is the first step. — Jeff PassanLineupsBrewers 1.
